Turkan Huseyn was born in 1987 in Baku. She graduated from the Department of Cinema Theory at Azerbaijan State Culture and Arts University. Since 2007, she has been dedicated to street and portrait photography. From 2007 to 2019, she worked as a director's assistant and line producer on various film projects in Azerbaijan. In 2020, she established her own production company, "Chinar Film," and began producing small-budget independent films, primarily focusing on documentary projects. Turkan’s debut short documentary, "Papanin" (2021), premiered at the Ji.Hlava International Documentary Film Festival. Her second fiction short, “The Last Photo,” premiered at the Riga International Short Film Festival and won the Best Screenplay Award at the Baku International Short Film Festival. Her most recent film, “I Still Talk to You,” premiered at the DokLeipzig International Documentary Film Festival. As the founder and producer of Chinar Film, she is currently dedicated to nurturing young promising directors and striving to create a new wave of Azerbaijani cinema.
Emil Najafov was born in 1980 in Yerevan. He graduated from the Azerbaijan State University of Economics and began his career as a producer in 2002. Since 2010, he has worked as a producer at "Ultra Production," where he has been involved in producing various documentary and advertising works.
He has made significant contributions to the success of several films, "Sermon to Fishes," which he co-produced (directed by Hilal Baydarov), received two nominations at the Locarno Film Festival. "Destruction," a short feature film he produced (directed by Igor Smola), had its world premiere at the Busan Film Festival. The short documentary film "I Still Talk to You," directed by Turkan Huseyn, premiered at the Dok Leipzig Documentary Film Festival. Additionally, his productions include "Strangers," directed by Daniel Guliyev, "Hasar," directed by Gulu Askerov, premiered at the "Kazan International Muslim Film Festival", "My Magical World," directed by Elvin Adığözel, "Where Are You, Durna?" directed by Ilkin Yusif, along with several others.
